Will the US help South Korea build a wall to separate North Korea from its territory? This may help Washington contain China from the southern end. Since a wall cannot be built on the seas to protect Taiwan or Japan, the US would press forward its plan to have a missile defense system in Asia which will be hosted in Japan. ![]() Baghdad is divided by huge walls The US soldiers could not stop the violence simply by being present in the streets of Baghdad. They could not stop the bombings and the attacks against US interests and Iraqi civilians even with the help of Apache helicopters. Then Israel started to build its wall of shame to divide the Palestinian populations away from the Jewish populations in illegal settlements build by the Israelis. This inspired the Americans in Iraq to go back to the idea of the wall of Berlin which has considerably helped them keep Baghdad under their control. And they surely have plans to expand the walls from Iraq to Allah knows which other countries in the world. America is such a country that it will not stop at the division of Baghdad into ‘walled’ communities with heavy, tall and large blocks of fortified cement. It will use the same tactic to divide other cities, other countries in the future and Afghanistan look set to be the next one on the list. The rise in rebel attacks against the presence of the US and the Nato in Afghanistan gave the inspiration to Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan but whom many calls the ‘Mayor of Kabul’ to urge Pakistan to build a wall to separate the border between his country and the country of General Parvez Musharaf. The idea, a crank, failed to materialize for the simple reason that neither Afghanistan nor Pakistan wanted to foot the bill for such a project. The US did not offer any financial rewards to either Pakistan or Afghanistan if they were to build that wall – at least along the border between the Pakistan tribal areas and Afghanistan. That idea will soon be revived with the increase in the death toll of Nato and American soldiers. More western soldiers are dying in Afghanistan now than in Iraq. The US blames this situation on Pakistan’s open borders where people can easily cross into Afghanistan and carry out attacks then sneak back to Pakistan and into hiding. Once a wall built, the Americans will claim victory over the Mujahideen forces if the death toll of Nato and Western soldiers falls back to the low level it was before the surge in Taliban attacks in Afghanistan. This provided the wall that will separate Afghanistan and Pakistan acts as the dividing line that Mujahideen forces cannot cross to carry out their operations in the neighboring country. In the event this is achieved, the Americans will then move on to other targets. Iraq will never be safe, 100 percent safe, with Iran lurching at any possible early withdrawal of American forces to impose its true strength on the Iraqi regime in Baghdad. Hence Washington will probably think – if John McCain wins the US presidential elections in November 2008 – that a wall to separate the border between Iran and Iraq would help. The paranoia of the law makers and the resident (evil?) of the White House would make it possible for such a wall to be erected between the Persians and the Iraqis. An idea that was never thought before and a trick used by the Russians to divide Berlin after its conquest of East Germany at the end of World War 2 could become fashionable again. The US has a major opponent to deal with after it has dealt with the Muslims it calls extremists and terrorists. There is yet another nation that the US is trying to point the finger at and this is where the Olympics will be held this year. China is to be contained and it has to be defeated while the US must do everything to be ahead of the Chinese writes US based editors for US magazines and newspapers. Their obsession with China is such that they are already seeing their country defeated by Beijing and the Chinese Communist party if their president and their law makers do not take the necessary actions to prevent China from growing. We already have the Great Wall of China but do not be surprised that any time in the future, a Republican President or even a less sane Democratic President in the White House – we already have an insane Republican since 2000 – would sharpen the US’s foreign policy and its military to target the bigger apple, the bigger pie to defeat before ‘democracy’ rules all over the world. Containing China is already part of the policy of the US. The fear of the US is that China may extend its reach beyond Taiwan and the China Sea. The recent victory of a pro-Beijing President in Taiwan has the alarm bell ringing in the US that a greater China is inevitable now. To threaten the US, China would have to create a force capable of destroying America's nuclear deterrent, controlling US airspace and invading American territory. That is well beyond the PRC's obvious capabilities and apparent intentions, wrote Doug Bandow for The Straits Times Singapore. Washington is rebuilding the domino that fell when the Soviet Union collapsed. It is building it with more bricks and mortar than expected but it is building it to contain China, the first country on earth that probably built a long wall to protect its former frontier against the attacks of its worst enemies in the past. A gold mania could happen.
Here's why... Gold manias begin when investors flee real estate, currencies, bonds, and stocks because their prospects are so bleak. We're close to that right now.

LAHORE, Pakistan — When Muhammad Saad Iqbal arrived home here in August after more than six years in American custody, including five at the military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, he had difficulty walking, his left ear was severely infected, and he was dependent on a cocktail of antibiotics and antidepressants.
