Paris repeats opposition to Ankara’s membership talks with the European Union on the first day it takes over the rotating term presidency of the 27-nation bloc and says it will continue blocking the opening of five chapters. WorldFutures is not surprised with the stance taken by France underPresident Nicolas Sarkozy. In the Past this online magazine did state that Turkey is making a 'failed' bid to join the EU.
Contrary to reassuring messages from France that its term at the helm of the European Union would be an impartial one, the most recent statement from Paris seemed a sign of a well-known French position toward Turkey's bid to join the bloc, wrote a dissapointed Turkish Daily website. France would not halt the opening of negotiations on new EU policy areas with Turkey during its presidency provided that they did not involve the five chapters that presuppose eventual membership, an unnamed high-level source in President Nicolas Sarkozy's office was quoted as saying. France took over the EU chairmanship for six month this week and it is already engaging itself to counter Turkey's membership bid. It is known that the EU considers itself a very 'Christian' based organization and to allow Turkey to become a full fledge member would mean access to the EU market to millions of Muslims. The millions of Muslims from Turkey would also be free to 'invade' the European nations thanks to its well publicised freedom of migration and ease to get jobs across the EU. Sarkozy is a vocal opponent of Turkish membership in the EU, arguing that the country is not in Europe and belongs to Asia. France has made plain it will block Turkey's talks on five chapters, including economic and monetary policy. However, French officials recently visiting Turkey assured government officials that fairness and objectivity would prevail during their leadership, while recent remarks from the Champs Elysees disclosed that French tenacity on Ankara's membership talks remains intact. 'This is not the position of the German government to block five negotiating chapters,' said a spokesperson for the German Embassy here. The official said Germany was backing Turkey's membership talks but believed that negotiations were open-ended and that the outcome cannot be guaranteed beforehand. Israel's ground offensive is reaching a critical stage where its forces may soon have to face Hamas fighters on their chosen killing ground, the narrow, winding alleyways of Gaza City.
A gold mania could happen.
Here's why... Gold manias begin when investors flee real estate, currencies, bonds, and stocks because their prospects are so bleak. We're close to that right now.

Another example of American criminality
LAHORE, Pakistan — When Muhammad Saad Iqbal arrived home here in August after more than six years in American custody, including five at the military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, he had difficulty walking, his left ear was severely infected, and he was dependent on a cocktail of antibiotics and antidepressants.
