Muslim World: An embarrassing but laughable situation PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kazi Mahmood
Saturday, 02 August 2008

In France, they would say if ridicule killed, the Muslims would be dead by now and the world would be freed of Mullah’s or Ayatullahs and even of Osama Bin Laden. Good riddance they say but the fact is that ridicules do not kill, not yet so the non-Muslim world is having a good time saying that laughter is the best medicine!

The Muslim world, after the bashing from the West following the 911 events, is now falling in straight ridicule with latest events that are making the enemies of Islam rolling on the floor with laughter.

From Pakistan to Malaysia, there are stories of sex, videos and political killings that show a deep retraction of the Muslim world, leaving civility to fall into laughable matters for others. Little is there to wonder that the opponents of the Islamic faith and those who dislike Muslims for being pretentious are given more bullets to attack the Muslims.

The reality in the world today is that anybody from a professional to a pure layman has access to the new media – the interned stupid. And this allows them to express their feelings. The people who tend to use the internet the most to comment on what they think is right and wrong are the non-Muslims. That is because their leaders have opened the flood gates for them to enjoy the online world at full speed.

The Muslim world leaders are still catching up with this development and they are taken into a real cyber ride in which they see only the blues. To them the Internet and the new media is wrong, a sign from Satan hence an evil being that is targeting their hegemony.

In Malaysia, the ruling class is stigmatized with the wonders of the internet. They would want to get rid of it but it would cause such a furor in the country and outside the country that they decided to roll on an old stratagem: Sodomy Act 2.

This is how the opposition and the free media is calling the allegations of sodomy against Anwar Ibrahim, the popular opposition leader once accused of sodomy in 1998 but freed of the case by the highest court of the country. The difference with 2008 is that the authorities are messed up with revelations after revelations that are piling up against them, and this is creating an ‘urban legend’ sort of infamy on the internet.

The non-Muslim world is viewing the events in Malaysia with a greedy eye, laughing at the accusations of sodomy from one side and the accusations of murder of a model from Mongolia on the other side. Most of the comments say Muslims are really lost in their translations of sex, lies and videos!

The non-Muslim world is coming to grip with one reality: That the Muslims are as stupid as they can be and that politicians in the Muslim world can use such filth to try brush aside their opponents. While many would side with Anwar Ibrahim – he is definitely popular world wide – their views would however be more twisted towards the regime.

Regarding Pakistan, the US has recently accused the Pakistani intelligentsia services of aiding terrorists in attacking the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan. The laughable matter in it for the commentators across the world is that Muslims are aiding Muslims to kill Muslims who were at the Indian Embassy at the time of the bomb blast.

If that is not sufficient, then let us understand the minds of the non-Muslims when they get to laugh when Iraqis kills Iraqis by suicide bombings or Palestinians start fighting each other over pieces of land which is not even yet recognized as part and parcel of a future Palestinian state?

In France, they would say if ridicule killed, the Muslims would be dead by now and the world would be freed of Mullah’s or Ayatullahs and even of Osama Bin Laden. Good riddance they say but the fact is that ridicules do not kill, not yet so the non-Muslim world is having a good time saying that laughter is the best medicine!

They are laughing at the total de-cultured and pathetic world in which the Muslims are living. In Japan, the Japanese press had a special column (Asahi Shimbun) in which it try to explain to the Japanese how to handle Muslims.

It kept saying Islam was submission to one God and that they had a Prophet and that Muslims do not like jokes about their Prophet or their religion and that cartoons against Muslims could attract anger. It also established that Japanese people should always show respect to the Muslims when talking about social life and cultures.

For the Japanese to go into such great length to explain the good deeds of Islam is so embarrassing to the Muslim world. The reason is simple. If we had carried ourselves the way the Prophet of Islam has instructed us to, the Japanese would not have to come out with special columns on how not to offend the Muslims.

The pathetic thing about us today is that we have become overly sensitive and too proud of our so called ‘purity’ that others find it hard to believe.

Islam shuns prostitution and promotes polygamy in order to settle the problems that lead to prostitution but let me put it bluntly. I do not see Muslim women or men NOT prostituting themselves in Kuala Lumpur or Johor Baru or even Singapore and Jakarta.

Islam prohibits interest rates and corruption but in most Muslim countries, corruption is the national gains tax number uno! What I mean is it is the easiest way for the Muslim – the corrupt ones – to gain extra funds and to fuel their lavish lifestyles. They live on the rot but they wear the Islamic dresses as if they are pure and saints and they look at others in a way that portrays them as the angels.

Angels my foot! Islam calls for the satirizing and the mudslinging of corrupt practices. Islam demonizes the haram but it is apparent that many Muslims lives purely by the haram to the extent that Indonesia is going to pass a law that will allow the beheading of corrupt officials.

Is it strange or hard to comprehend that Muslims are today the pariah of the world, not given access to the US, the UK, Australia and Canada? World Futures is working on an explosive article in which it will be revealed how Muslim countries are working with the UN to shun the rights of ‘refugees’.

Malaysia declared it square and loud that it does not recognize refugees and it treats them as trespassers, jail them once a while and keep them on the fringe of the Malaysian society. They are treated as lepers and this reminds the westerners who are aware of this situation of the days when Europe was plagued by leprosy. But then, they insist to me that leprosy was dangerous and had to be contained. But they do not understand why refugees are dangerous here and should be contained!

To reply to this the Muslim leaders will use the old rhetoric of the Muslims being ‘brown skinned’ and that the west and white people for example will not recognize that Muslims too have laws and that law and order is only good in the white man’s land. Redux Tun Mahathir’s reply to the Foreign Correspondent!

And George W. Bush, the pretzel scared President of the US is having the laughter of a lifetime when he succeeded in his crusade against the Muslims and rallied scores of Muslim leaders to support his anti-terror war.

Should I expand any further to tell my Muslim brothers and sisters enough is enough! The shame is on us and the blame too. Enough with those sex, lies and videos and for once let the world see that we have reached the maturity with which we can handle our opponents with grace and allow criticism with a smile!

Good article.
Unfortunately like Malaysia, most Muslim countries consider bloggers and blogs as "main-main" only, opinions of a handful of trouble-seekers and opposition. Not only immoral, the majority Malay Muslims in Malaysia are so incapable of surviving in the real world that they need "disability priviledges" while the widowed, orphaned and disabled have no priviledges.
Fortunately, I have many Muslim friends and colleagues who are normal work-feed-family types, but can they survive if these priviledges are taken away, where they cannot get a job or buy house just by flashing the Muslim Malay status? Will they be able to compete with the widowed, orphaned and disabled?

I feel bad ..when I stand in front of a mosque in Chuan Zho , Xiamne buildt back to 800 ago...it is still at good condition..Arab muslim is very repectable by the local Chinese ..because they are turstworthy , they come will new knowledge and skills , they are the pioneer group whom carry the name of Muslim .
But after 800 years ..what happen to the middle east countries ? are there any growth of economic ? do they produce any great scholar ? this is one of the topic I like to know and explore ...to understand and find out what are the reason for the downfall of Muslim scholar and the technologies, knowledge development .... smilies/cry.gif

I hardly saw any church preserved by the Chinese ..but I saw mosque have 1,000 years of history , and it still standing tall in China , and there are 80 million Muslim in China , and they still keep helping the growth of the China economic ...
Tragic
written by Woody, August 12, 2008
Dear Mr Kazi,

Laughable is not. It is a tragic how those wonderful Muslim Women and children with bright future waiting for them were brutally cut short by fellow Muslims. Let alone some become orphans and trapped in poverty , growing up in distress environment in the endless vicious cycle.

Now here is a simple wish here, I do wish to more see more Muslim stand up to condemn those suicidal killings, I do wish media giving those peace loving Muslim more voice to condemn the radical ones. Those perpetrators that brainwashed decent young men/women to become suicidal manic that destroyed lives should be exposed.

At least make aware to those youth in the hope they would ended up staying away from those purportedly driving religion agenda with political motives . I do wish those bright youth look to life as meaningful future and quest for knowledge as fountain of living.

Suicide bombers
written by Kazi Mahmood, August 13, 2008
There is a need for change in the attitude of many Muslims. I am not exagerating here. Islam is more flexible and less drastic than many people think but the attitude of many has given a bad name to a faith that has more beautiful vitues and great humanism than the ugliness portrayed by some.
Suicide bombers will be here for a long time. This is due to the fact that many things are going wrong not only in the Muslim communities but also in the international community. There is this huge hypocrisy that is acting like a lid on the truth. What truth? Look at the lies that is being spread about Islam and the Muslims.
The suicide bombers are to be condemned but that is not an entirely Muslim problem. It will take both sides - the bombers and the sufferers - to realize that something is definitely wrong in this world.
How to settle that? Dialogue..that is what we need. No dialogue, no talks, no explaning then forget the end of suicide bombings. I know what I am talking about because the politics of the world leading nations are negative and always too drastic against Islam and the Muslims. The response is obvious!
dialogue
written by woody, August 13, 2008
Dear Mr Kazi,

Dialog ! This is nice point.

Over the weekend and splashed all over newspaper front about Bar council forum. That was a dialogs and a starting point but was abruptly cut short by some mobs. This is not the first time a mob disrupted any attempted civilized dialog. Another one happened like last year.

Malaysia
written by Kazi Mahmood, August 13, 2008
Mr Woody,

I believe Malaysian Muslims are feeling pressured. They are thinking that non-Muslims are after their rights or want to end their political dominance. These issues are cracking the Pakatan Rakyat with statements from the PAS regarding the need for a Muslim majority government and so on. Taking these into consideration, I think Malaysia will crack eventually if the non-Muslim forces continue in their march to seek redemption amid the heavy criticism from the Malay-Muslims, with Umno and the PAS in support.

Perhaps the dialogue proposed by the Bar Council was a bit too far for the Muslims to accept. Perhaps too, it it was done with wisdom, that is with the participation of Muslim leaders, it would have been more acceptable. Perkim is there, the Bar Council would have be well advised and wiser to approach the Perkim to get them on board in this forum.

It is not that I do not agree with BC on such issues, but my point is why do such things now when the PR was so miuch on the path to dislodge the BN? Something is not ok in this equation.

Personally, i would never advise a non-Muslim to embrace Islam due to the numerous impediments and at times terrible barriers a non-Muslim who embraces Islam would face.
Laughable? I seriously do not think so.

Dear Mr Kazi,

"Muslim World: An embarrassing but laughable situation".

The situation is anything but laughable. Why can't people respect others for what they are without having to resort to violence. I have often wondered why it is that there is so much sensitivity surrounding Islam and Muslims. Why are they being singled out for people to ridcule? Why are they being alienated by he non-Muslims. Why is it that historically, the holy war was fought between the Muslims and the Christians, and it is still being fought today. Whenever there is ethnic cleansing, it is about Muslims and Christians. Perhaps, you can shed some light on that.
Hello Aspiring
written by Kazi Mahmood, August 23, 2008
I do not know what you are aspiring to, but I am glad you visited and commented.
Wars between Muslims and Christians...they date a long time don't they. I will put it this way:
Let us say that Muslims are stupid, they are warmongers, they are savages that they always fight against Christians. But no one would fight any wars if the other party involved in the war was more clever, more intelligent and not savage as well as not stupid!
I like to put it bluntly. The Christians hordes that attacked the Middle East under the banner of the Crusade is not far in similarity to the Bush's crusaders now in Iraq. Iraq for example did not attack the US but the Christian US did so and even murdered its leaders.
Muslims did not invade any Christian countries since the last Ottoman wars which was about the Muslim reaction to the attacks by the people of Nagorni-Karabak. And that is a long long time ago deep in history. In modern times, there are no evidence of Muslims invading a non-Muslim country.
The US did so, the UK followed and with them a host of Christian states too the like of Australia, New Zealand, Georgia and you name it.
Hence, who are the warmongers in this time of ours? It is laughable though that the entire West and Christian world has to mobilize their armies to fight one man who is said to be hiding in a whole in Afghanistan!
Voila, I hope this is more aspiring!
why muslims always like to Suicide bomb in the war?
written by Sin, November 19, 2008
Can anyone explaint about this?even in game like "Command and Conquer" Suicide bombs just like part of the weapon. but in the end muslims killls by muslims ..so sad
suicide bombers
written by observers, November 19, 2008
It is a regrettable but inevitable thing. The Muslims who commit such acts r either in despair or have no choice weapons anymore. loosing is one thing but made to loose is another! Anyways, suicide bombing has so far caused the west to be frightened to engage the Muslims in the battle field...u wud notice the Americans n britishers have stopped their 'invasion' and 'conquests'..y? due to suicide bombers! Maybe WF should write an article on that!

A WF EXCLUSIVE: It is the Occupation, stupid
The writer is a former Secretary Interior. This is an exclusive article for WorldFutures. Pakistan: Nov 2008 =

US President-elect in his victory speech bracketed financial crisis with the two wars to define crucial challenges calling for immediate action on his part. This reflects his sagacity which manifests his worldview etc. It is an open secret that while Iraq is comparatively quiet, thanks to Gen Petraeus’ initiatives, Afghanistan has become a quagmire for US. The current Administration, which exploited the fear-complex provoked by 9/11, remains bogged down. While maintaining hostile posturing and invoking EU’ bigger deployment of troops, the increasing casualties appear to have brought in the Saudi King to ingratiate the Taliban.

MiddleEast Conflict
US Antiballistic missile in Israel a world threat
The real threat is what motivated the US to install such systems in Israel. Does it intend to use Israel as stepping stone to launch 'conquests' in the Middle East and prevent the future natural 'democratic' processes from operating, such as in Palestine where the Hamas won an elections but was 'ousted' in a US sponsored and Israeli supported Coup?

The Haj. a unique pilgrimage
The Haj season is here. It is a unique pilgrimage with various fascets and all of them are as amazing and as mystical as it can get. Muslims performs the Haj at least once in their lifetime. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and some 2 to 3 million Muslims will be at Makka for the Haj.

History also bears out that the Afghans can’t tolerate ‘occupation’. No wonder since 2006 the Taliban have been on the rampage. Even Kabul remains tentatively safe. During my last visit home to Peshawar, I was met by a few Afghans who told me of the reign of terror prevailing in Jalalabad, Paktia and Kabul etc as the state machinery/ foreign forces   could not cope with prevailing mayhem. The spill-over effect of Afghan ‘insurgency’ is   widely felt in Pakistan; more so in NWFP/ Baluchistan. History and geography combine to create challenges which the elected Govt and its armed forces have to face daily.

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has received information that Dr. Afia Siddiqui, was arrested along with her three children by a Pakistani intelligence agency in early 2003 and has been missing since then. American and Pakistani intelligence agencies confirmed that she had been arrested in connection with Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organisation run by Osama Bin Laden. However, later both agencies denied that she had been arrested. Dr. Afia's whereabouts remain unknown but it is suspected that she is being held in an American detention centre.

Very few people in Jakarta commented on the 'rising' sentiments towards the bombers but deep inside many think the bombers – especially Imam Samudra – went to the extent of bombing Bali due to their rigid beliefs regarding 'Maksyat' or illicit life styles.

From Hamas to Kenya, roughing up democracy
From Hamas to Kenya, roughing up democracy

The American constitution, the basis of democracy in the USA is indeed a good example of how a democratic system can be hijacked by a group of people with an evil agenda. Democracy is violated in Kenya too where Kenya's opposition movement, which is challenging the election in December that Kenya's president, Mwai Kibaki, narrowly won. In Palestine, the legitimate government is now being suffocated...What democracy is it?
