Senator John Edwards is on a campaign trail to expose the incredible truth about America the richest nation on earth. In the U.S. there are at least 70 million people who lives in poverty. This is one out of every 8 Americans and this figure is the largest in the developed world while it is one of the largest rate of poverty in many parts of the world. World Futures details the campaign headed by the U.S. presidential canditate who's team sent an email to us on the subject. Read about our new book on USA's rogue policies: USA Above The Law, At Home And Abroad "The millions of Americans who struggle with poverty are all but invisible to the media and to the power brokers in Washington, D.C. That needs to change. Starting today, I will be traveling on the Road to One America—visiting 11 cities in 8 states over 3 days to expose the problem of poverty and highlight our power to solve it. And I am asking you to join me," Edwards said in an email campaign that started this month.

. That is a national disgrace while America is concentrating its foreign policy on pre-emptive strikes and wars against other countries that does not agree with its policies. Billions of U.S. dollars in weapons are used up to kill innocent civilians in Muslim countries for example while in the U.S. itself, the people are living in disgrace. President George Bush and his corporate buddies does not care about the poor Americans. The lobbyists in Washington too does not care. And since the media can't stop talking about Paris Hilton, you can bet they won't help shine a light on poverty in the U.S. Since George Bush took office, 5.4 million more Americans slipped into poverty. Some people are working two jobs, and still can't put food on the table or buy the medicine they need to survive. This is not our America. Yet they are failing to understand why America has become hell for its own people: It is their refusal to impeach people like Bush. The Americans are too content and relaxed with Bush leading them until the end of his term. Sound Vision, an American based Muslim internet media has an interesting expose on poverty in America, the richest country in the world. www.soundvision.com According to the US Census Bureau, 35.9 million people live below the poverty line in America (http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/income_wealth/002484.html), including 12.9 million children. This is despite abundance of food resources. Almost 100 billion pounds of food is wasted in America each year. 700 million hungry human beings in different parts of the world would have gladly accepted this food. Here are some statistics on the nature of poverty and the waste of food and money in America, courtesy of Sound Vision. -In 2004, requests for emergency food assistance increased by an average of 14 percent during the year, according to a 27-city study by the United States Conference of Mayors. -Also in this study, it was noted that on average, 20 percent of requests for emergency food assistance have gone unmet in 2004. -According to the Bread for the World Institute (http://www.bread.org/hungerbasics/domestic.html) 3.5 percent of U.S. households experience hunger. Some people in these households frequently skip meals or eat too little, sometimes going without food for a whole day. 9.6 million people, including 3 million children, live in these homes. -America's Second Harvest (http://www.secondharvest.org/), the nation's largest network of food banks, reports that 23.3 million people turned to the agencies they serve in 2001, an increase of over 2 million since 1997. Forty percent were from working families. 33 million Americans continue to live in households that did not have an adequate supply of food. Nearly one-third of these households contain adults or children who went hungry at some point in 2000. U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, March 2002, "Household Food Security in the United States, 2000"

it is ironic that the worlds super power also has poor citizens;I always thought that USA is heaven on earth;in my state in Malaysia, called Sabah we used to have food for everyone in the past;not anymore;today world recession coupled with inflation, has forced many citizens to go hungry at least for a meal skipped a day;how pathetic. We are living in a globalized world and what affects America inevitably affects us in the long run;I can only wish *may you all be well & happy*sadhu3

Very few people in Jakarta commented on the 'rising' sentiments towards the bombers but deep inside many think the bombers – especially Imam Samudra – went to the extent of bombing Bali due to their rigid beliefs regarding 'Maksyat' or illicit life styles.
