Hypocrisy rules out Shariah laws for Britain PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kazi Mahmood
Saturday, 09 February 2008

There are many other courageous Muslim women in the world, out there, defying the war on terror with their scarves on their head, covering their hair and telling the aggressors and the hypocrites that Islam is alive and well. They have no problem with the Shariah and they do not believe the Shariah is man-made or is an abomination. Their path is filled with admiration not only from their husbands, or brothers and sons but also from the Almighty and HIS Angels.

London is aggressively promoted as a Shariah compliant banking and financial centre to attract Muslim investors and huge capital transactions that will benefit the English economy. This is how far Islamic applications should go in Britain indicated British Prime Minister when he dismissed suggestions by his own Bishop of Canterbury that Muslim laws are inevitable in the country.

Shariah laws are already applicable in some circumstances in England but Bishop Rowan Williams, instead of drawing praise from Muslims was treated as a ‘pariah’ by ‘enlightened’ Muslims in Britain. He also received the vilest comments from Britons who now refers to him as the ‘Purdah’ Bishop. Purdah is the head scarf that altogether covers the face of Muslim ladies wearing them.

Bishop Brown now called the Shariah Bishop

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown termed Sharia as nothing but a human concoction of medieval religious opinion. Brown, a Muslim living in Britain, is a columnist for the Independent newspaper in London.

The Bishop’s suggestions that Islamic laws be applied for Muslims in sectors like divorces and property disputes were blown out of proportions. Several tabloid newspapers in Britain came out with front page criticism of the Bishop and by extension, with further disrespect for Islam and its laws.

The only sectors that came to the defence of Rowan Williams are a few truly ‘enlightened’ Britons who tried to put the speech of the Bishop and his interview to the BBC in the right perspective. But they were very few and they are lost in the slew of verbal, written and moral abuse of Islamic laws by commentators and editors.

A typical response to the William's interview on the Internet, as reported by the www.hizb.co.uk website says: "Muslims are running away from this barbaric law which is practiced in their own countries, once here they want to bring this barbaric law with them. If they want this law they could go and live in a country that practices this law."

Barbaric law, sharia law – made by bearded men, for men – or inhuman laws that are unequal and unjust is how the Shariah Law is today treated. In Mauritius, the then frugal and popular opposition leader Paul Berenger, a Mauritian of French origin and a white man altogether, told the Editor of World Futures that Islamic Laws are barbaric.

The response of the Muslims in Mauritius was not swift as they doubted the veracity of the story. They had such faith and trust in Berenger that they would not believe a Muslim. However, years later, Berenger met with his fate when his party was flatly abandoned by the Muslims.

Mauritius has altogether scraped the once existing Muslim Personal Laws (MPL) and various promises to re-instate the MPL were only attempts to gain Muslim votes in elections. A comprehensive study on the MPL was carried out a few years ago but the findings of the report are kept secret from the general public.
Muslims across the world are subjected to non-Islamic laws and countries that want to implement the Shariah are either bombed, invaded or prevented from doing so with the overthrow of duly democratically elected government. Palestine with the Hamas and Algeria in the 1990’s with the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) are concrete examples of the non-respect of the democratic choices of Muslims in Muslim nations.

Britain is not able to fight Islam or prevent the growth of the Muslim population, hence the growth of the Islamic faith. The hypocrisy is to prevent the Muslims from living their lives according to the Shariah, which are the God given laws of Islam. Yasmine Alibhai Brown may scream her chest out to claim these laws are man-made but the fact remains they are written in the Holy Quraan and as all Muslims should agree, the Holy Quraan is sacred.

Islamic laws are good when Britain or Mauritius (which is scrambling to establish an Islamic Financial Centre and Islamic Banking) want to profit from it, but when come the time for the Muslims to profit from it, this is deem impossible to accept.

The hypocrisy does not end with the implementation of the Shariah alone. It is also extended with the wide coverage some ‘apostates’ are granted – in incognito indeed – in the British press. It involves the war on terror too which is a war against Islam altogether.

The ‘war on terror’ is still a measure invented by the West to prevent the rise of a Khilafah and Shariah in the Muslim land. The war has not delivered a winner, and will not, as long as deceit and falsehood is used to win it. However, the thing is that well before the birth of America or of democracy, the Holy book of Islam predicted that Islam will win in the end in a war that will engage almost everybody on earth. The war on terror does, as a matter of fact, engage the Muslims and a large section of the non-Muslim world altogether.

There is not a single Muslim who has not been influenced by the war on terror, engaging them somehow or rather to take sides or to deny facts, while many are hiding behind barriers simply because this development surpasses their faith and their thinking.

Some of them are like Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, who wrote in the Independent on Saturday, 9 February 2008, that the Shariah is an abomination and she insist that she is writing ‘here as a modern Muslim woman,’

Yasmine Alibhai-Brown, is she the only Muslim woman rep?

Their path is filled with admiration not only from their husbands, or brothers and sons but also from the Almighty and HIS Angels.

I believe people like Yasmin Alibhai-Brown do not really believe in the Angels or in the veracity of the existence of Allah and even in the Holiness of the Al-Quraan. Yet the British press runs her stories as if she is a supreme representative of Islam in Britain.

A WF EXCLUSIVE: It is the Occupation, stupid
The writer is a former Secretary Interior. This is an exclusive article for WorldFutures. Pakistan: Nov 2008 =

US President-elect in his victory speech bracketed financial crisis with the two wars to define crucial challenges calling for immediate action on his part. This reflects his sagacity which manifests his worldview etc. It is an open secret that while Iraq is comparatively quiet, thanks to Gen Petraeus’ initiatives, Afghanistan has become a quagmire for US. The current Administration, which exploited the fear-complex provoked by 9/11, remains bogged down. While maintaining hostile posturing and invoking EU’ bigger deployment of troops, the increasing casualties appear to have brought in the Saudi King to ingratiate the Taliban.

MiddleEast Conflict
US Antiballistic missile in Israel a world threat
The real threat is what motivated the US to install such systems in Israel. Does it intend to use Israel as stepping stone to launch 'conquests' in the Middle East and prevent the future natural 'democratic' processes from operating, such as in Palestine where the Hamas won an elections but was 'ousted' in a US sponsored and Israeli supported Coup?
Islam
The Haj. a unique pilgrimage
The Haj season is here. It is a unique pilgrimage with various fascets and all of them are as amazing and as mystical as it can get. Muslims performs the Haj at least once in their lifetime. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and some 2 to 3 million Muslims will be at Makka for the Haj.

Image Analysis: The War in Afghanistan and Pakistan
History also bears out that the Afghans can’t tolerate ‘occupation’. No wonder since 2006 the Taliban have been on the rampage. Even Kabul remains tentatively safe. During my last visit home to Peshawar, I was met by a few Afghans who told me of the reign of terror prevailing in Jalalabad, Paktia and Kabul etc as the state machinery/ foreign forces   could not cope with prevailing mayhem. The spill-over effect of Afghan ‘insurgency’ is   widely felt in Pakistan; more so in NWFP/ Baluchistan. History and geography combine to create challenges which the elected Govt and its armed forces have to face daily.

Image Another horrible story of American inhumanity
The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has received information that Dr. Afia Siddiqui, was arrested along with her three children by a Pakistani intelligence agency in early 2003 and has been missing since then. American and Pakistani intelligence agencies confirmed that she had been arrested in connection with Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organisation run by Osama Bin Laden. However, later both agencies denied that she had been arrested. Dr. Afia's whereabouts remain unknown but it is suspected that she is being held in an American detention centre.

Very few people in Jakarta commented on the 'rising' sentiments towards the bombers but deep inside many think the bombers – especially Imam Samudra – went to the extent of bombing Bali due to their rigid beliefs regarding 'Maksyat' or illicit life styles.

From Hamas to Kenya, roughing up democracy
From Hamas to Kenya, roughing up democracy

The American constitution, the basis of democracy in the USA is indeed a good example of how a democratic system can be hijacked by a group of people with an evil agenda. Democracy is violated in Kenya too where Kenya's opposition movement, which is challenging the election in December that Kenya's president, Mwai Kibaki, narrowly won. In Palestine, the legitimate government is now being suffocated...What democracy is it?
