The concept of Messiah first came from the Jews. The Muslims were ones who so happily adopt the concept without much information and origin. Muhammad is such a clever story changer that he manage to twist it to his favour. As for history (if the Muslims even bother), the older texts must authenticate the later text. Looking at Islam taking its origins from the earlier texts of the Jews and the Christians, they fail to authenticate their claims. Or sorry I'm taking you too far is it?
